Service Terms

Last updated: 2026-05-20

1. Who these terms apply to

These terms apply to anyone who books service work with Andy's Adventures Vehicle Repair ("AAVR", "we", "us"), whether by phone, by text, or in person at our shop at 2735 Day St, Winnipeg, MB. By authorizing us to start work on your vehicle, you agree to the terms below. Questions? Contact [email protected] or (204) 996-4425.

2. Labour rate

Our labour rate is $90/hr labour rate. The full line we use across the site: $90/hr labour - quoted up front, before we touch your car.

That rate covers every minute an AAVR technician spends working on your vehicle. Diagnostic time, repair time, and reassembly time are all billed at the same hourly rate. There is no separate "tech fee" on top of labour, and we do not pad hours. If a job takes less time than quoted, you pay for the actual time. If it takes more, we call you before continuing (see section 8).

3. Parts pricing

We source parts for your vehicle and add a markup. The exact markup is disclosed in your written quote BEFORE you authorize the work, so there are no surprises at invoice. If you would rather supply your own part, you can, but please read section 9 first because owner-supplied parts are not covered by our warranty.

We will tell you what part we are using so you can compare the quote to anything you have seen elsewhere. Three terms you might see on your quote:

  • OEM: made by the same manufacturer that built your car's original part. Usually the most expensive option.
  • Aftermarket: made by a different manufacturer to fit your car. Often cheaper, sometimes equal quality or better; we tell you which brands we trust.
  • Reman / remanufactured: a used part that has been rebuilt to factory spec and warrantied (NOT the same as "used"). Usually the middle option on price.

4. Shop supplies and disposal fee

Most repair jobs include a small flat shop-supplies fee. It covers consumables we use on every job: shop rags, brake cleaner, thread locker, hand cleaner, and proper disposal of used oil, coolant, and old parts. The fee is shown as its own line item on your quote so you can see exactly what it costs before you authorize the work.

5. Taxes

GST of 5% applies to your invoice. Manitoba PST does not apply to vehicle repair labour, but it does apply to parts. We show GST and PST as separate line items so you can see exactly what is tax and what is the cost of the work.

6. Diagnostic fee

If we need to diagnose a problem before we can quote you a repair, the diagnostic time is billed at our standard labour rate.

If you authorize the resulting repair, the diagnostic time is rolled into the repair total. You are not double-charged. If you decide not to go ahead with the repair, the diagnostic time is billed on its own and you can take the vehicle elsewhere with our findings.

7. Deposits

For special-order parts (anything we have to bring in specifically for your vehicle), we require a 50% deposit at the time you authorize the work. The deposit is refundable only if we have not yet placed the order with the supplier, and you can confirm whether we've ordered yet by calling within one business day of authorizing the work. Once the part has been ordered, the deposit covers the part cost and any restocking fees the supplier charges us.

If a supplier delay puts the part more than three weeks out, you can cancel and get your deposit back minus any restocking fee the supplier has already charged us. We'll tell you the supplier's restocking fee before you authorize.

The deposit amount is shown on your written quote before you authorize anything.

8. Estimates and re-authorization

The price you authorize is the price you pay. If parts cost goes up between the quote and the invoice (suppliers sometimes raise prices on older or special-order parts), we call you before completing the work and you decide whether to continue. Either way, you do not pay more than what you authorized in writing without a fresh phone call from us.

If we discover the job needs anything beyond the quote (additional labour, additional parts, a problem the diagnostic could not see until we had the vehicle apart), we stop work and call you. We do not continue past the quote without your re-authorization.

9. Warranty

Repair work performed at AAVR is covered as follows:

  • Parts we sourced and installed: 12 months or 20,000 km from the date of invoice, whichever comes first. If a covered part fails within that window from normal use, bring the vehicle back and we will repair the covered failure with no labour or parts charge for that specific item.
  • Labour: 90 days on the work itself (the workmanship of the install or repair). If something we did was done wrong and it causes a related issue within 90 days, we redo it at no labour charge.
  • Customer-supplied parts: if you bring your own part for us to install, we warrant the labour for 30 days only. We do not warrant the part itself because we cannot verify its quality or origin.

The warranty does not cover:

  • Wear items consumed by normal use: brake pads, brake rotors past the wear line, tires, wiper blades, light bulbs, fluids, filters, drive belts that have aged out, and any part the manufacturer designates as a service-interval consumable.
  • Damage from accidents, abuse, neglect, or use of the vehicle outside its design (towing beyond rated capacity, off-road in a road car, etc.).
  • Indirect or consequential damage (for example, if a covered part failed and damaged something else, we repair the covered part; consequential damage is a separate quote).

A warranty claim must be brought to AAVR for inspection. Work done at another shop is not reimbursable under this warranty.

10. What is not included

  • Towing. If your vehicle needs to be towed to the shop, that is between you and the tow company. We can recommend one, but we do not bill towing through AAVR.
  • After-hours emergency labour. If you need work done outside our normal shop hours, there may be a surcharge. We tell you what it is before you commit.
  • Road testing beyond city limits. Normal road tests stay inside Winnipeg. If the diagnosis requires a longer drive (highway-speed vibration, for example), we discuss it with you first.
  • Vehicle storage after pickup notice. Once your vehicle is repaired and you have been notified it is ready, we hold it free for 7 days. After that we may charge a storage fee of $15 per day. We always call before that clock runs out, and the fee is shown on the final invoice.
  • Abandoned vehicles. If a vehicle remains uncollected and we cannot reach you for 60 days after pickup notice, Manitoba's Garage Keepers Act permits us to recover charges through the lien process. We follow the statutory notice procedure before any disposition.

11. Payment

We accept cash, debit, and e-Transfer. We do not accept personal cheques. Credit card terms are still being finalized and a surcharge (likely around 3%) may apply once we add that option; the surcharge will be disclosed on your quote before you authorize work. Payment is due at vehicle pickup unless we have agreed to other arrangements in writing in advance.

Authorizing the work and paying the invoice represents your acceptance of the completed repair. If you pay by debit or credit and later dispute the charge with your bank after picking up the vehicle, we may pursue the unpaid amount under Manitoba's small-claims process.

12. Right of refusal

We reserve the right to refuse work that is unsafe, illegal (for example, removing emissions equipment), or beyond what our shop is set up to handle. If we have to turn a job away, we tell you right away so you can take the vehicle to a shop that can do it. We do not charge you for the time spent assessing a job we end up declining.

13. Disputes

If you are not happy with the work or the invoice, please contact us first. Email [email protected] or call (204) 996-4425 within 30 days of vehicle pickup. We want a chance to make it right.

If we cannot resolve it together, your next step is the Manitoba Consumer Protection Office, which handles consumer complaints about auto repair shops in the province.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the shop evolves. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. For material changes (anything that affects how you are charged or what is covered), we show a banner on the site for 30 days so you can read them before booking your next job.
